"Intelligent design" was the vision of Sonu and Eva in 1995 with their luxury eco resort in Kunfunadhoo on the Baa Atoll.
Local materials have been used throughout the design, in the pursuit of maintaining the island's natural beauty - pine, water hyacinth, palm wood, coconut shells and bamboo all play a role in the stunning interior decor.
One of the largest and lushest atolls in the Maldives and home to chickens, pet rabbits and a handful of holiday makers. The 30 minute seaplane transfer will glide you over the islands as you try to spot the camouflaged bungalows below as they merge into the woodlands. A Robinson Crusoe experience envelops you from the minute you arrive as your Man Friday (Maldivian butler) swaps your shoes for a King Coconut and you see the snorkellers exploring around the many reefs.
The service is impeccable and cruisine outstanding, which was duly rewarded by Conde Naste Traveller in the 2000 travel awards. Luxurious rustic bungalows line the shore, each secluded by the foliage. Bikes for all the family are parked outside your door ready for you to explore the island - children and adults appeared to thrive in this environment. There is a full children's programme and the size of the island ensures that children are seen and not heard. The sunrise side of the island attracts the swimmers in the lagoon, whilst the sunset side attracts sunbathers, snorkellers and evening romantics. The island adopts a time zone one hour ahead of Male, which provides an extra hour of sun shine .
A turtle farm has been established to enlarge the growing population that has taken refuge at Dolphin head. Explore the sea life, indulge in the famous Six Senses spa or join the chef in his prized orchards- every vegetable, herb and fruit you can think of grow in meticulously neat rows. Or just throw away your business suits and stresses and soak up the sunshine on your private beach.
New for the 2005/6 season is the amazing Jungle Reserve, which is almost a village in itself.

- Enjoying the luxuries of the Maldives whilst gaining a taste of its tradition. The delightful Spa lounge at the airport and complimentary champagne on arrival was a perfect way to step into our new environment.
- The only luxury island that accommodates children well whilst not distracting from the tranquillity.
- Extremely helpful and friendly staff- no wonder many familiar faces return year after year.

- Unless you are a sunworshiper, visits of over 7 days may leave you a little twitchy. Why not combine the visit with a trip to neighbouring Sri Lanka (just an hour's flight and brimming with culture and wildlife)
