The five bedrooms of Cranford can be booked separately or as an entire villa and have all the basic amenities required in the remote hill country.
The extensive gardens offer peaceful walks or relaxation in the secluded pagoda. The more energetic may wish to spend an hour playing basketball, mountain biking or dipping into the hot water jacuzzi before unwinding for the evening.
Railway buffs will be entranced by the famous Demodara Railway Loop just 15km away. Whilst nearer still are the 9 arch and 3 arch viaducts known as the Bridge in the Sky, Victorian engineering at its best.
As you would expect in the hill country, the sound of falling water is not far away. In particular the impressive falls of Dunhida, Diyaluma and Rawana Ella are a short drive away and should not be missed. In between each stop you may wish to indulge in afternoon tea and homemade scones at the many monasteries - St Benedicts is the most delightful but only open 2 days a week.
The welcoming entrance and Raj style pavilion leads guests into the newly refurbished and modernised interior which blends with the traditional colonial architecture. There are five bedrooms in this cosy bungalow with a shared lounge and dining room.
The bedrooms have highly polished teak floors maintaining a traditional feel. Two spacious deluxe rooms with ensuite bathrooms have local TV and views onto the gardens.
A further three standard rooms with ensuite bathroom and a shared TV lounge can accomodate three beds if required.
The friendly and experienced staff are happy to serve you Sri Lankan or Western food made from locally grown produce and offer you the facilities of the bar.
The Eastern menu is typically Sri lankan . Favourites like rice hoppers or pittu and a variety of curries feature. Sri lankan breakfast comprises string hoppers, rotti and fresh jam, milk rice with fish curry and heaps of dhal.
Western dishes may include a continental breakfast, with fried rice and devilled chicken and fries for lunch. Roast chicken, noodles and boiled vegetables of the region is a typical dinner which may be served.
