Pristine white beach, endless expansion of blue ocean, luxurious accommodation, meticulously prepared delicious food – what more could you want for a relaxing holiday. Isolated from populated towns yet near enough to all the ‘must see’ sights. Anilana Nilaveli in a nutshell. Located in the northeast district of beautiful Trincomalee, renowned for it’s exotic pearl industry in the past, Anilana Nilaveli shines like a bright white pearl in all its glory.
Anilana Nilaveli belongs to the Anilana group of hotels, a corporation that capture the combination of luxury service and exotic locations. This beach resort has the capacity for 100 guest celebrations yet maintains a sense of exclusivity and privacy the moment you enter, a distinct departure from most larger resorts. Discovered from a wide expanse of beach this majestic white enclave is secluded within a mangrove of lush greenery lose yourself inside a cocoon where no one can find you.
The two large swimming pools, lounging areas with privacy curtains, private rooftop sun beds were ideal for some fun and relaxation in the water, getting some serious tanning done, or unwind with a book without any disturbance from or to your neighbors. You’ll forget that you aren’t actually alone in this luxurious setting.. A unique spa for Sri Lanka: the Thai style massage aroused our senses while relaxing and rejuvenating the body –it’s hard to tear yourself away. The culinary experience left us wanting to know how they did it so they treated us to our very own cooking demonstration of our favorite dishes. The comfortable rooms were chic and inviting with all the modern amenities and luxuries one could want.
Venturing out of the grounds, one will find the expanse of Sri Lanka’s beautiful pristine beaches, and the deep blue Indian Ocean. Adventurous experiences such as whale & dolphin watching, scuba diving and snorkeling, sailing and water sports; cultural experiences like visiting historic churches from the country’s colonial past and hindu and buddhist temples from the islands religious history; being at one with nature with bird watching and animal safaris, are some of the attractions in the vicinity. The Nilaveli Studio is ideal for the romantic couple. With all the luxuries of the Anilana Studio, the Nilaveli Studio is cosier and comes minus the interconnecting room. Hence much more romantic and private for those who want to be cocooned in their own little space.
The Pool Chalets are amazingly fun and we opted for one to get the best of both; land and water. With its outdoor shower and private sunbathing area on the rooftop it was a super getaway whilst in the middle of it all. The rooftop was great for us to hang around in the evening to gather around for some great banter with a refreshing drink. The Pool Chalets are also great for couples with its king sized beds and elegant interiors while the rooftop is ideal for the early birds to catch the sunrise,.
The Deluxe Rooms, being the basic of all, are still of a higher standard than you would find in any 5 star hotel. With a king sized bed or twin double beds, a view of the gardens or pool, elegant pieces of furniture and art, and crisp white linen, one forgets that this offers the least of luxuries from all the categories.
With so many dining options, we didn't want to miss out on any and ended up experiencing all six restaurants and bars during our stay. Made with fresh locally grown poultry, meat, vegetables and fruits, all the meals were organic and prepared to perfection by the team of chefs. We fell in love with some of the dishes and much to our pleasant surprise when we enquired on a recipe, they arranged a cooking lesson for us. The head chef mentioned that he loves arranging lessons for interested guests to share the secrets of his signature dishes.
The breakfast buffet with asian and american options ensured we started each day with a boost. The made-to-order menusand scrumptious buffets offered a wide variety of starters, appetizers, entrees and desserts. The wide selection of wines, liquors, cocktails, mocktails and juices along with specialty teas and coffees, kept us hydrated whether in the lobby, beach or rooftop.
They also arrange romantic settings on the beach or rooftop for special occasions upon request. We witnessed a stunning white setting on the beach with candles and lamps for a couple, we were sure they must have experienced a moment to be treasured forever.
