The name survives the period of ownership by the ambassador to Bangladesh.. Since then extensive renovations have opened up the house by exposing ancient archways and introducing the trappings of modern comfort.
The villa sits behind an attractive white wall and small garden which is entered via sturdy teak gates. An elegant white pillared verandah leads you into a large sitting room furnished with comfortable sofa, chairs and antiques. Archways show the way into a small courtyard where a glass table under the trees may be set for informal meals. A formal dining room shares this view with a modern fitted kitchen adjoining it.
Three double bedrooms are also located on the ground floor and overlook the pool.
A stair case leads to the master suite and twin bed room, which have private access to the roof terrace overlooking the roof tops of the Fort. At the end of the house there is another small garden with a separate stairway to the roof.
A dining room for formal meals adjoins a modern kitchen. Breakfast and snacks may be enjoyed in the courtyard at the small table under the trees.
A cook and steward are joined by daily room girls to attend to your comfort. The house is let on a room only basis so you have the flexibility of eating in or sampling the many restaurants of the Galle Fort. If you wish to eat in just arrange with the cookto shop and prepare your meals, or visit the market with him to see and select from the fascinating range of friut, vegetables and fish on offer.
